Belfast Free Library to screen ‘The Station Agent’
“Mix and Match” is the theme for November at the Belfast Free Library’s “Friday Night Flix” film series. The month features an eclectic variety of films from the 1970s to the 2000s. All the movies are free and take place at 7 p.m. in the Abbott Room of the Belfast Free Library.
Nov. 9th “The Station Agent” (2003) What do a dwarf, a hot dog vendor, and grieving artist have in common? They share the screen in this critically acclaimed indie film. Peter Dinklage, Bobby Cannavale and Patricia Clarkson give an acting clinic as three starkly different characters who learn to co-exist in an abandoned, New Jersey train station, and ultimately help each other find safe harbor, internally. David Edelstein called The Station Agent a “blessedly serene comedy.” Elvis Mitchell of The New York Times called it “a delicate, thoughtful and often hilarious take on loneliness.”
