Belfast Farmers’ Market to host customer appreciation day
BELFAST — The Belfast Farmers’ Market will kick off the holiday season with a customer appreciation event on Friday, November 16 at Aubuchon Hardware Greenhouse in Belfast.
The public is invited to explore the possibilities for new ways to use locally raised and produced foodstuffs for upcoming holiday gatherings. Each member will be offering a taste of the season, sampling dishes made with currently available products, or sharing favorite seasonal recipes.
The Belfast Farmers’ Market is open every Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Aubuchon Hardware on Route 1 in Belfast from November through mid-April. The market is closed the day after Thanksgiving.
For the month of November the Market is doubling Maine Harvest Bucks vouchers earned by SNAP/EBT shoppers, offering them two dollars in additional value for each dollar spent using their benefits. Participants in the program normally earn a one-dollar voucher for each dollar they spend at market. . Vouchers may be redeemed for vegetables and fruits on the next purchase at the issuing market.
Maine Harvest Bucks nutrition incentive program rewards participants for choosing to shop locally and extends federal nutrition supplement funds by encouraging purchase and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Maine Harvest Bucks program is managed by volunteers and receives funding from philanthropies. The program runs through March 2019. More information can be found at maineharvestbucks.org.
