Engage Waldo has organized a local event in solidarity with the Global Climate Strike Sept. 20. There will be similar events all over the world, with more than 750 are planned in the United States alone.
Engage Waldo will be rallying at the corner of High and Main streets in Belfast at noon on Friday, September 20, asking for the following global changes
    (1) Keep fossil fuels in the ground,  no new exploration or infrastructure.
    (2) Reduce carbon emissions to zero in the near future.
    (3) Accomplish these goals with a just transition which accords climate justice to all people.
Take signs, wear climate T-shirts if possible, organizers said.
They will also have a sign-making party on Wednesday evening starting at 5 p.m. at Social Capital, 28 Spring Street, Belfast.  Take cardboard or poster board and they will provide pens and glue and paint.
Organizers said they realize that many people have a conflict with Common Ground Fair. If you email them a selfie with a photo of you holding a relevant sign they will make sure you are virtually represented at the rally. Use the email address
