Be Safe Out There: Browntail Moth education with state entomologist

ROCKLAND — “Being in the outdoors in Maine has changed over the years where we now have to pay attention to animals and plants that can cause health issues,” said Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, in a news release. “The best defense is education.”

Join state entomologist Tom Schmeelk to learn about the browntail moth, Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m., at Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 9 Water St., Rockland.

Schmeelk will give an overview of the browntail moth biology, history in Maine and updates on current browntail moth range and areas at risk. Bring your questions.

This is the first of a three-part series on being safe in the outdoors.
