ROCKPORT — Bay Chamber Concerts presents Palaver Strings in a concert entitled “On the Nature of Daylight,” Friday, Jan. 24,  at 7 p.m., at Union Hall, in Rockport.

Palaver Strings has strong ties to Bay Chamber Concerts both through its concert series and music school. Palaver, a musician-led string ensemble, includes several members who grew up in the Midcoast and now serve of the faculty of Bay Chamber Music School.

Guest cellist for this performance, Nora Willauer, grew up in Hope, and is currently completing her MFA at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

This performance of “On the Nature of Daylight” explores the gradual return of light marked by the winter solstice. The program includes Winter from Vivaldi’s beloved Four Seasons, featuring violin soloist Nicholas Kitchen.

Palaver Strings will also perform Max Richter's On the Nature of Daylight, a musical meditation that juxtaposes desolation with pure beauty and gentleness, and Mendelssohn’s radiant Octet for Strings, which with its youthful brilliance, captures the promise of spring, according to Bay Chamber, in a news release.

Bay Chamber’s Café Nights Series invites you to enjoy the intimate atmosphere of Union Hall, a complimentary glass of wine and an evening of inspiring music to start off your weekend in style.

Tickets for this concert are $10 for those under the age of 25, and $30 for adults.
