ROCKPORT — On Sunday, May 19, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Bay Chamber Music School invites members of the community to drop by Union Hall, in Rockport, for its fourth annual Play-a-thon.
Students of all ages and abilities will be playing non-stop throughout the afternoon and guests can drop in and out while enjoying free music, refreshments in a family fun atmosphere.
Music school students, members of the Music School faculty and friends from throughout the Midcoast community will be playing repertoire from folk to jazz to classical.
There will be raffle prizes, pizza and cookies for musicians and guests alike.
Funds raised through the raffle and donations at the door will go to support Bay Chamber’s scholarship program. Over 40% of the students at the Music School receive financial aid amounting to over $75,000 in financial aid awards and free classes annually, according to Bay Chamber, in a news release.
Bay Chamber music school offers private instruction and group classes throughout the year in voice, piano, strings, percussion, winds, brass, ukulele, guitar and composition. There are several opportunities to play with others including in chamber groups, the jazz ensemble, guitar ensemble and in the Odeon ensemble programs.
