UNION — Author Roger Moody, of Camden, presents a program on his book about Naval Architect Geerd N. Hendel at the Wednesday, October 6, meeting of Union Historical Society, at 7 p.m., in Old Town House on Townhouse Road (masks required).

Hendel came to the U.S from Germany in 1928 and worked as a draftsman at Bath Iron Works.

He lived in Boothbay Harbor during the 1930s and moved to Camden in 1941. Hendel was draftsman for the America's Cup challenger in 1937, designed the Boothbay Harbor One design, yachts, trawlers, sportfishermen, logging towboats and the first aluminum yacht built in the U.S. for saltwater use.
