Attracting wild birds to the yard, a Warren Field and Garden Club talk
WARREN — Warren Field and Garden Club hosts Jean Vose at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, at the Dr. Campbell House, 224 Main Street. Vose will speak about attracting wild birds to the backyard with an emphasis on winter birds and feeding.
The one-hour slide talk introduces participants to creating bird-safe yards, helping and feeding birds in winter including types of feeders to use. The slideshow is to feature many images of backyard winter birds. Vose provides handouts for the topics including how to make birdseed ornaments and simple feeders.
Vose has been birding for more than 30 years and is a member of Maine Audubon and one of the founding members of Eastern Mass Hawk Watch Association. She has been feeding birds in her backyard for decades and is a 25-year member of the Cornell Project Feeder Watch. She is also Master Gardener and 30-year beekeeper in Nobleboro where she manages her beehives and the Two Cats Pollinator Garden. Vose is available as a speaker on a variety of related topics, including but not limited to, gardening, pollinators, birds and eco-friendly gardens.
