Ash Point Community School

On Thursday, November 10, Ash Point Community School held a Veterans Day Assembly to give our thanks and show our appreciation to all veterans.  It was a wonderful assembly where students sang The Star Spangled Banner, read poetry, displayed artwork, and presented American Flags to the veterans in the audience.  Students also demonstrated their learning about the United States Constitution and Flag Etiquette. This included the folding of the American flag, which was then presented to WW II Veteran , Master Sergeant Cecil James Clark who just turned 100 years young on October 31st.  The assembly concluded with students from Pre K – Grade 4 singing My Country Tis of Thee, which was accompanied by the 5th Grade Band.  Special thanks to all the staff and students of Ash Point Community School as well as our incredible community.  This was a heartwarming assembly with so many special moments that will be remembered and felt for a lifetime.  Thank you Veterans!

South School

Veterans Day is a day set aside specifically to honor American Veterans who have selflessly devoted themselves in sacrifice and service to our country. Through age-appropriate lessons about historical and influential wars in which the United States has been involved, students learn about the contribution of our armed forces to the establishment and preservation of our nation. This year, South School staff and students were invited to bring photos to recognize their friends and family members who have served. Over the past two weeks, display easels in the school’s front lobby filled up with photos for all to see with messages of gratitude and identifying Veterans as our heroes.
