April 16 update: Waldo County’s COVID-19 cases rise; 796 cases statewide

Thu, 04/16/2020 - 11:45am

AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, April 16, of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 796 cases confirmed across the state.

Across the state, 333 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 27 people have passed. The number of hospitalizations across the state stands at 130.

The Maine CDC Director reports 14,076 negative cases, as of April 15. “Maine CDC will publish negative results once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of negative tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states.

By sex, 423 females have tested positive in the state and 373 males have tested positive.

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC.

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”

The tables below are updated once each day by noon, by the Maine CDC. Today’s update came at 11:45 a.m.
