Appeal is out to help feed and clothe Waldo County teens

When the high school students of Waldo County enroll at Waldo County Technical Center, they not only become part of the student population, they become part of the WCTC family.  Being family means you look after one another, so, if a student at WCTC needs help with non-academic issues such as food or clothing, the instructors and community rally behind that student to provide what is needed.

Waldo County Technical Center has two programs that speak to these needs: Food For Friends, which provides free food for students, and the It’s Cool To Be Warm clothing closet, for students who need items such as clean clothes, warm coats, and winter boots.

Both of these programs are run purely on donations from staff and the community.

Student need so far this school year has been much greater than anticipated, and any help from community members or businesses is greatly appreciated.

Food items that are most needed are easily prepared, teen-friendly food items such as mac and cheese, cereal, and canned soup or pasta.

Adult sized clothing items, especially coats, boots, and hoodies (sweatshirts) are of greatest need.

Gift cards to local grocery and/or clothing stores are also very helpful.

Anyone interested in helping feed and clothe the teenagers of Waldo County, please contact Lacey Breems at Waldo County Technical Center at 342-5231. ext/ 222 or via email at lbreems@waldotech.org.  Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
