ROCKLAND — The Ale House String Band will perform in a Reading Room concert, Thursday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m., at the Rockand Public Library.
The Ale House String Band (AHSB) was originally formed as a pick-up group in 2009 at The Narrows Tavern in Waldoboro. They codified their style, “chamber folk,” while playing traditional tunes and covers of popular folk music.
Their style is unique, melding the theory and techniques of classical music with Traditional Folk style, according to a news release. The three also have an ability to improvise music on the spot.
AHSB is Oren Robinson, Brian Dunn and April Reed-Cox.
Guitarist Oren Robinson is a classically trained vocalist who has a folkie soul.
Brian Dunn is the group’s mandolin player, a wandering soul who picked up music along the way.
April Reed-Cox has been playing cello for over a quarter century has a masters degree in music performance.
Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St. in Rockland.
