The ABCs of Alzheimer’s Disease Presentation offered at Quarry Hill, June 18
CAMDEN — In recognition of Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, Quarry Hill’s monthly Awareness Series will focus on the disease with an educational event Tuesday, June 18, at 1:30 p.m., at the Anderson Inn.
Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia are not a normal part of aging. These conditions cause memory loss, compromised thinking and behavioral issues that interfere with a person’s daily living. On June 18, join Quarry Hill and Amy Angelo, program manager of the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, for a discussion about the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s, the 10 warning signs, stages and risk factors, importance of early detection, new advances in research and therapies and the role of the Alzheimer’s Association.
“Additionally, Amy will teach us about lifestyle choices that may help to keep our brains and bodies healthy as we age,” said Quarry Hill, in a news release.
Quarry Hill’s Awareness Series is open to adults 50 plus and addresses a different health-related topic each month.
Light refreshments will be served.
Admission is free, but advance registration is required. To sign up, please call Quarry Hill at 301-6116 or email qhinfo@mainehealth.org.
