$800K awarded to support Maine mental health, substance use programs

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Maine State Department of Health and Human Services has been awarded a total of $800,000 to support mental health and substance use programs throughout the state, according to a news release.

    This funding was awarded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

    Administered by SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, this funding aims to prevent and treat mental health disorders, the release noted. 

    SAMHSA also operates a 24/7, national helpline that people can call to find treatment referral resources for mental health or substance use disorders: 800-662-HELP (4357).
