28th annual Hobbs Pond swim takes place Aug. 17

HOPE — The 28th annual Hobbs Pond swim will occur Saturday, Aug. 17 at Hope Town Beach on Pond Road off Barnestown Road near Hope Corner. 

The swim will start at 10 a.m. with participants encouraged to gather at 9:30 a.m. 

This year’s swim will be more informal with no timing and no orange buoys, only spotting boats, swim caps and sign-in required for safety, a press release noted.

There will be no advanced registration, no entry fee, no t-shirts and no prizes. 

The after-swim social gathering will be at the Hope General Store at Hope Corner. New owners Damon McClure and Simi Delevett are delighted to help encourage the continuation of this local event, the release noted.
