UNION — The Vose Library will kick off its 2019 Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, June 26.
The program is offered for all ages. Participants and their families are invited to stop in from, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., to set personal reading goals and register for the program, browse the motivational prizes (including 24" and 26" bikes---and helmets---donated from the Union Masons), enjoy a slice of pizza donated by local pizza vendors, and meet the staff.
Participants may also sign up for an array of age-focused programming which has been planned starting in July.
K-3rd graders will enjoy a weekly space-themed story and craft time with visiting Children's Librarian, Kristin Gould; Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., starting July 10 – limit 10 participants.
4th-7th graders will savor weekly hands-on science activities with UMaine 4-H Leader, Kathryn Jenson, who will use the Engineer Design Process to investigate the Science of Ocean Water and confront real-world challenges; Tuesdays, from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm starting July 9---limit 10 participants.
All ages are welcome to attend Family Nature Trail Fun on the third Saturday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
All programming is free of charge and will take place at the Vose Library, 392 Common Road, Union, and registration is requested by visiting or calling the Library at 207-785-4733.
Participants may sign up for individual activity dates or for the entire 6 weeks.
The Summer Reading Program Finale is scheduled for Friday, August 16, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., with drawings for bikes and other prizes, certificates and goodbye to friends.
