14th annual Serving to End World Hunger benefit raises over $17,000

    ROCKPORT — The 14th annual “Serving to End World Hunger” benefit was held Saturday, Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 at the Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport. 

    The event held its annual tennis tournament Saturday and included a pickleball tournament for the first time Sunday. 

    Over the two days, over $17,000 was raised with proceeds being donated to Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO) Food Pantry, Good Shepard, St. George Community Cupboard and the ELCA. 

    Winners of the junior tennis tournament were Josh Chun of Belfast in flight one, Noah Thackeray of Camden in flight two, Will Meyer of Camden in flight three and Danny Forcillo of Rockport in flight four. 

    Dale Martin of Rockland and Karen Brace of Hope won the adult tennis tournament. Finalists were Alex Arau of Rockport and Laura Mackay of Searsmont. 

    In the pickleball scramble, Kevin Wells of Camden won the men’s division and Gloria Hewett of Montville won the female division.
