On Thursday, October 18 a Candidates’ Forum was held at the Rockport Opera House between the two candidates vying for the job of Representative to District 94, myself, Incumbent Owen Casas, and Democrat Vicki Doudera. A great discussion about policy positions and opinions occurred. I have attached the link to the forum below and hope that you take the opportunity to view it for yourself.
One of the perks that I discovered during my first term as your representative is that not having a party means you absolutely HAVE to learn how our state government works to be effective for the good people you represent. Reviewing policies, reading amendments, assessing fiscal notes, evaluating testimonies and picking the brains of trusted colleagues, constituents, and friends helped me cut the “learning curve” time down significantly.
I hope as you watch our discussion you come to understand how much I really do enjoy this job and how much work goes into it. Although I don’t take myself all that seriously, I take the job of public servant very seriously. To be effective for the folks of Camden, Rockport and Islesboro one must know not only the issues but also the structure, people, rules and procedures of government, so an issue can move from concept to law.
I look forward to continuing this important work and feel well positioned to hit the ground running as your State Representative. Please vote on November 6th to send me back to Augusta.
Paid for and authorized by Owen Casas.
