UMA Rockland Offers Summer Courses Free for High School Students

Thu, 04/16/2020 - 3:00pm

UMA Rockland's summer schedule includes hundreds of fully online courses and also several courses which will have a "real time" web conferencing component which are very suitable for High School Aspirations students.

According to URock's Director, Deborah Meehan, "This type of instruction combines some face to face instruction over Zoom web conferencing plus material delivered online. We believe this type of balanced instruction is a great blend for high school students engaging in early college opportunities plus first time college students."

Meehan added, "Despite the convenience of fully online instruction, some learners still prefer more traditional learning in real time."

Maine's High School Aspirations Program provides an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to enroll in courses and Maine's public universities. Courses are taught by university faculty and combine college and high school students. High school students earn both college and high school credit and they attend free of charge.

High school students register for summer courses through the Early College website at explorec.maine.edu.

UMA Rockland staff are currently working remotely and students questions may be sent to umarockland@maine.edu or called into 596-6906.  Staff will answer you immediately.  More information is also available on the website at uma.edu/rockland.
