UMA Rockland To Host Nursing Program Info Session September 25

Thu, 09/12/2019 - 5:45pm

The University of Maine at Augusta Bachelor of Science in Nursing is now available at the UMA Rockland Center.  The next round of applications will be due by January 31, 2020.

In order for students to understand both admission and program requirements, UMA Rockland will host a Program Information Session on Wednesday, September 25 at 4:00PM.  Terry Colby, Coordinator of UMA's Nursing Program will be at the Center to talk about the admission requirements and the curriculum, including the required nursing clinical experiences that will be hosted at Pen Bay Medical Center.

"This will be a good time to hear details of what will be required to get into the program as well as the course work that will be covered," said UMA Rockland Director Deborah Meehan.  "Even if someone is thinking they may be applying in a few years, it is important to understand the requirements now."

Meehan noted that many non-traditional students approach the Nursing Program in several phases.  They start by taking general education requirements, including math and sciences. This can lessen the course load when they are in the intensive nursing clinical experiences.

Meehan stated that the program is also well designed for recent high school graduates who can choose to go to college full-time and complete the program in 4 years.

Registration is not required for the Nursing Program Information Session.  Questions may be directed to staff at the UMA Rockland Center at 596-6906.
