The Study Hall has educational professionals eager to help students in our community flourish during this educational crisis.

Raise your hand if you have ever felt personally victimized by Covid-19. I can imagine all of the parents, students, and teachers waving their hands after these last few months. It seems like every week more and more students are switching to remote learning, having to quarantine, and their education is suffering as a result. What do you do when you become overwhelmed and frustrated on a daily basis? Are you still able to push yourself to learn new things and adapt to the ever changing situation, or do you breakdown and shutdown? I know I struggle, so I can only imagine what parents and students are feeling right now.

A friend of mine summarized how different students are handling remote learning beautifully: "[One child] get's up and checks each of her regular classes & GT classes on her computer. She immediately starts working [...] and completes all of her assignments. [...] She may not have the best attitude, but she gets through it no problem. [My other child] is a totally different story. Every bit of work is a struggle. [...] Getting him to write a few sentences takes hours, and he tries so hard to do it all. There are a lot of tears here." She talked about how she feels like she is drowning, and no amount of breaks and rewards seem to help. Her son is so frustrated and overwhelmed that something as simple as an app zooming in can make him break down. She has worked in many classrooms, but nothing has compared to the battle she is in now, and--like most parents--she just doesn't know what to do to help her son. "I cannot imagine being a working parent and trying to do all of this."

Does that story sound familiar? It is the same all across the county, state, country, and possibly even the world. We try to prepare our students to be able to handle whatever the world throws at them, but what do you do when the world interrupts that training with a crisis no educational system could prepare for?

The Study Hall (formerly known as Portland Pupils) has worked with students of all ages and abilities for the last 2 decades. We may be known primarily as a test prep center, but we do much more than that. We have literacy specialists on staff who work with struggling readers, former teachers who help you understand even the most complicated content, and most importantly, we have educators who will do anything to help your child succeed. No child is too tough, no content too advanced, and no schedule/requirements too complicated for us.

If you are one of those parents who feel like you are drowning, let us help. If you are a student who just can't seem to understand what in the world your teacher is trying to show you, let us help. If you struggle to stay on task and get all of your work in on time, let us help.

Whatever your need is during this educational crisis, we can help, and we won't give up when the going gets tough. This is what we are here for, and this is where we shine.

Don't let this educational crisis (because that's what it is) effect your child's education. Call us today at 207-236-3949 or email us at rockport@thestudyhall.com to see how we can help you.
