Sons of Love Series, Week 2, “that They May Be One.

When God presented Adam with his wife, just as water merges into one stream, united by love, they became one Spirit. With hearts radiating the light of the love of their Father, their countenance shined with the brightness of His image.  Being of one heart, Adam and Eve release upon the earth the force of God’s love that shined as a light in the world.

In the eyes of their Father, God saw them as one. This is why He called their name Adam. As it is written, “Male and female created He them: and blessed them, and called their name Adam in the day they were created” (Geneses 5:2). Together as one, their love revealed the sound of harmony in the spirit of unity between God and His creation.

Adam, recognized his wife’s biological differences, understood that God created them with the ability to have a family prophesying, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto His wife, and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).

Embracing the glorious uniqueness of Eve’s creation, Adam called his wife “Eve” denoting the fact that she was “The mother of all living” (Genesis 3:20). They did not confuse their biological uniqueness to be one flesh, with the gift of love for a “heart to heart” relationship for intimacy and fellowship with their heavenly Father – the gateway that released heaven on earth.

A New Heart and Spirit I give you

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and sin invaded the world, the hearts of men waxed cold. The desire of God’s heart for a family unified by love never changed. Through the prophet Ezekiel, God declared His creative dream with the promise, “A new heart also will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you” (36:26).

Fulfilled through Christ, the second Adam, Jesus came to restore mankind back to God’s original design – a family born of the Spirit filled with His love. It was the expressed prayer of Jesus for the same glory that the Father gave to Him, the gift of the Holy Spirit would be given to His people. He also asked for the same love of the Father that was in Him, would dwell in His people. It is the expressed prayer of Jesus for God to release the git of the Holy Spirit and His love to the people who embraced Him, That we may be one” (See John 17:20-26.)

The pathway to become one with the Father and His Son and with one another, is fulfilled in Christ. The apostle Paul clarified that we are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus stating,

“For as many of you that have put on Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, bond or free, male or female, “For you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26-28).
