2019 Camden Summer Camps | Six Weeks | July 1 – Aug. 9
NON-Camden Residents – Register through the Penobscot Bay YMCA
Day Camp is one of the best ways for kids to spend their summer, learning new skills, playing fun games, and making and strengthening friendships. Our camps also provide opportunities for children to travel around the region, visiting state parks and beaches, attending a Sea Dogs baseball game, the Maine Wildlife Park, an amusement park, and more.
For six weeks, beginning July 1, Camden residents this year have two camps to choose from, both based at the Snow Bowl, for a reduced rate. Camden residents can register campers through Camden Parks and Recreation at the Snow Bowl, while all families in other towns must register through the Penobscot Bay YMCA. The rates are different for Camden residents and non-residents, due to the fact that the Snow Bowl is town-owned and town-operated.
In addition to registration changes, there are changes to the camp offerings as well. Snow Bowl Camp, formerly Summer Rec and Camp-a-Homa, combines two long-standing and popular camps into one. This camp is geared for younger campers, ages 7-10, and provides ample opportunities to also practice becoming a proficient swimmer, among other skills. Adventure Camp is geared toward the next age group, 11-13 year olds, who will spend an extra weekday away from basecamp on a day trip.
Both camps offer many of the same activities Summer Rec families have come to know and love, with some new ones added. Both camps still begin and end each day at the Snow Bowl, offer prick-up and drop-off at the Teen Center as well as Before and After Care programs through Penobscot bay Area YMCA.
Below you will find links to registration forms, full camp details and daily calendars, by week, for each camp. For Camden families who register through the Snow Bowl and wish to extend the Snow Bowl or Adventure camps experience, additional weeks can be registered and paid for through the YMCA.
