At Riley, every school year begins with building relationships during an overnight camping trip. This annual tradition is offered to children ages 7-14, comprising the Middle & Upper schools, including a Capstone 9th grade program, new this year. The faculty and children play games, tell stories, prepare meals, and stay in cabins together.  The Blueberry Cove 4-H Center in Tenants Harbor is a favorite location for these activities. This year the group spent part of the trip in Rockland Harbor rowing with Station Maine. Under the direction of Muriel Curtis, Station Maine has been taking youth to water on Cornish Rowing Gigs for 17 years. “This is an exciting way to launch a year full of community spirit, hands on adventures and local, real learning,” says Rebecca Clapp, Head of Riley School.

The Riley School is a progressive, independent school located on 20 acres in Rockport, Maine. At Riley, children are guided to become independent, lifelong learners and innovative thinkers. Small, multi-age classes provide opportunities to build strong, collaborative relationships and to nurture the unique talents of each individual. Accredited by the New England Association of School and Colleges and the Maine State Department of Education, the ungraded Riley School enrolls children K - 9th grade, and 18 months – 4 years for the Wade Acres program. Applications are still being accepted for the 2018-19 school year. For more information visit www.rileyschool.org or call 207-594-6405 to schedule a visit.
