Thu, 10/31/2019 - 3:45pm

The University of Maine at Augusta Rockland Center will open registration for its spring semester (Jan 21 - May 9) in early November. Students who are currently enrolled in a UMA degree program may start registering on Monday, November 4.  New students may register beginning Tuesday, November 12.

UMA Rockland offers over 30 college degree and certificate programs in their entirety so students never have to leave the mid-coast area. Examples of popular programs include Nursing, Mental Health and Human Services, Business, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Justice Studies and Education/Teacher Preparation.

Hundreds of courses are offered through the Rockland Center in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, interactive television, web conferencing and online.  These choices allow students to have great flexibility as they blend college studies with jobs and other responsibilities.

UMA Rockland is committed to providing affordable access to a university education, and helps students manage the growing costs of a college education by offering the Pine Tree State Pledge to new, full-time, in-state students and part-time transfer students who are Pell Grant eligible. The Pine Tree State Pledge offers a pledge of zero tuition to qualifying applicants.

According to UMA Rockland's Director, Deborah Meehan, "The opportunity for students to get a first rate University education that is convenient and low cost right here in the midcoast area is pretty exceptional."

Meehan also noted that this semester 65 local high school students are participating in High School Aspirations at URock, a program of early college dual enrollment.  This program allows high school juniors and seniors to earn University credits tuition free that count for both high school and college credit.
