Parent-Child Classes at Ashwood
Ashwood's Parent-Child program is a gentle and nurturing class for children ages 18 months to three years and their accompanying caregiver. Classes are taught by Waldorf early childhood teacher Audrey McGlashan and are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:45 - 10:45 a.m., beginning October 16.
While children engage in creative play with simple, natural toys, adults may work on a craft project provided by the teacher, help with snack preparation, or discuss parenting or child development. A walk through the woods on one of our trails, time on the playground, and a goodbye song complete the morning.
The Parent-Child program nurtures the whole family (moms, dads, caregivers, babies, toddlers, and grandparents are all welcome) and is a wonderful social opportunity for young children, providing a bridge from home to school. The flow of activities each week is the same, so that even the youngest children observe the weekly rhythms and begin to participate as part of the larger group.
New this year, Ashwood is offering a two-day attendance option. You may sign up for Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:45 -10:45 a.m. or Tuesdays only, 8:45 -10:45 a.m.
The tuition for each 6-week session is $180.Siblings six months or younger may attend at no cost, at the discretion of the teacher. A sibling between six and seventeen months old may be enrolled for half of the tuition, $90, also at the teacher's discretion. There is a $25 per session discount for enrollment in two days weekly, or two consecutive Tuesday sessions. Registration for the current session ends on October 9.
