Our Town Belfast, the Main Street organization leading the revitalization of downtown Belfast, is hiring for the position of Executive Director.

After more than five years with Our Town Belfast, current director Breanna Pinkham Bebb is leaving the position to take on the role of community engagement coordinator for the Belfast Co-op. “Belfast is a remarkable community, and we are grateful for Bre’s leadership. Our Town Belfast has helped to distinguish our city as a great place to visit and to live, work, and play,” says Chris Bitely, chair of the Our Town Belfast board of directors. “Now, we are seeking a creative, forward-thinking individual to lead Our Town Belfast into the next chapter.”

An accredited member of the National Main Street Center since early 2011, Our Town Belfast has reached a new level of maturity as a nonprofit and has become a highly visible and respected player in growing Belfast’s economy and fostering vibrancy through events and design. Increasing in scope of programming as well as funding, Bebb says the timing is right for new leadership at Our Town Belfast. “I’m proud of how far we’ve come,” says Bebb. “From a small group of volunteers and passionate business owners to a thriving year-round organization with the resources in staff and funding and volunteers to really get things done – Our Town Belfast has become a major force for good in this community.”

As that force for good, Our Town Belfast has been the coordinator of many downtown events including the August Street Party, Christmas tree and Menorah Lightings, Early Bird and Cabin Fever sales, Holiday Homecoming concerts, and more. Their annual Auction & Gala and Dinner on the Bridge fundraisers have become sell-out gatherings with residents and businesses pitching in in a big way to fund projects like holiday wreaths, seasonal plantings along the downtown sidewalks, and public art like the “Please Be Seated” bench program.

Bebb says she’s leaving Our Town Belfast “with thanks and a full heart,” and cites the team of board members and volunteers as one of the organization’s greatest strengths. “Working with all of these great local people has become a huge part of who I am. It has been an inspiration to see their willingness to give hour after hour toward making Belfast a better place to live.”

The event will also serve as an unofficial farewell for Breanna Pinkham Bebb as she ends her tenure at Our Town Belfast on the 20th.
