Sue and Family
Hi I’m Sue. I was born right here in Belfast, and grew up in Northport, ME. I lived and worked in Belfast for several years after High School before my husband Dan, or “Smitty” as I like to call him, and I bought a home right back in Northport, where we’ve lived for just over 30 years. There we’ve raised two lovely daughters we are very proud of, who also live and work in Maine.

While raising my daughters, and working full time, I returned to college to finish my degree in Fine Art, something I’ve been passionate about since childhood. It took me 20 years of alternating between taking classes here and there and attending school full time to finally gain my Bachelor’s Degree in 2007, just a few years before my own children graduated from college!

I’ve worked in various offices in the area throughout the years, including the Billing Office at WCGH, as an Operations Assistant at Wayfarer Marine, as a Sales Assistant at Liberty Graphics, and as Human Resources Administrator and Administrative Assistant for Books and Publishing at Down East Magazine.

Through all of this, I have actively produced artwork, including designing a couple of T-shirts for Liberty Graphics, and doing a little illustrating for Down East Magazine. I have been able to purchase my own etching press, and with Smitty’s help have set up a studio in my home. I am also a member of a Fine Art Press in Gardiner called Circling the Square, volunteer as a Print Studio Monitor at Waterfall Arts, and have participated in multiple group shows throughout the years.

I have been with Private Home Care, Inc. for two and a half years, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I am proud to be employed by a company that provides such professional, individualized care for these wonderful people in our community. I think helping people remain in their homes for as long as possible is an important part of maintaining their quality of life. Private Home Care is a company that accomplishes this, while treating their clients with the dignity, respect and compassion they deserve.
