The Study Hall in Rockport would like to take a moment and highlight one of the wonderful tutors we have on our staff. First up,  Joan Benner. Joan joined our tutoring team in 2016 and helps local and online (YES! we tutor via Skype) students with upper levels of math including Algebra, Pre-Calc, SSAT Prep, ACT Prep and SAT Prep.

Joan taught high school mathematics for 40 years at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro. She has taught basic math through pre-calculus and now enjoys passing along her wealth of knowledge in a one-on-one setting. Joan has experience in curriculum design, leadership as Chair of the Math Department, and coaching as leader of the Math Team.  

Joan received her BA in Mathematics from the University of Maine and is certified as a 7-12 grade math teacher. Her hobbies include hiking, knitting and jewelry design. Her kind, organized approach to tutoring makes her one of our most coveted math tutors. Typically she is able to cover a weeks worth of math in a one hour session that includes content review, organization, test/quiz prep and homework help. She is currently accepting new students in her schedule.
