Help Us Grow: Volunteer Appreciation and Outreach at OHTM

Tue, 04/26/2022 - 12:00pm

Story Location:
117 Museum St.
Owls Head, ME 04854
United States

Join us Sunday, May 15 at 12:30 pm as we show our gratitude to the incredible group of volunteers who graciously give their time and energy to the museum and open our doors to new friends and who are interested in learning more about the many volunteer opportunities at OHTM.

For nearly five decades, volunteers from near and far have made remarkable contributions to the success of OHTM, and have created a sense of community and camaraderie which brings this museum to life. OHTM salutes these volunteers and will be on hand to provide information about the volunteer program to empower the next generation of participants.

The afternoon will commence with light refreshments and a few words from our executive director, staff members and fellow volunteers. Attendees will be encouraged to explore the museum, plus the automotive and aircraft workshops. Meet our Ground and Aircraft Conservators, as well as our Archivist and other staff members.

If you’re an existing volunteer – bring a friend!

New to the museum? Come walk around, meet the crew and make some new friends!

Inspiration, excitement, education and a sense of community are all benefits of giving back, and at OHTM we encourage you to learn a new skill, meet new people and share your knowledge and expertise with the next generation

Current volunteer opportunities at OHTM include:

- Maintenance of the collection vehicles and aircraft

-Cataloguing donations of books, art and artifacts

-Model T drivers (training required)

-Special projects with our maintenance department - parking attendants at events, painting, and other miscellaneous projects around the museum

-Event staffing, including security, admissions, membership sales, exhibitor registration and biplane ride sales
