P.A.W.S. will be offering a Rabies vaccination and microchipping clinic for CATS only at the VFW in Belfast on December 16th.
Rabies is a fatal disease that is easily prevented with vaccination. The virus that causes rabies is transmitted through the saliva of infected animals so both indoor and indoor/outdoor pets should be protected.
A microchip is one way to ensure that a lost pet finds his or her way home. It is estimated that 1 in 3 pets will become lost in their lifetime. Less than 2% of lost cats make it back home to their families. The pets that do find their way home are either wearing an ID tag or are microchipped. A microchip is injected under the loose skin of your pet near their shoulder blades just like a vaccine. It is roughly the size of a grain of rice and provides a permanent means of identifying your pet should their ID tags become lost.
Rabies - $10 per vaccine
Microchipping - $25 per chip
No appointment necessary, just stop by the VFW in Belfast from 9:00am-11:00am! Cats must be in a carrier. All proceeds will be donated to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center.
