Cornhole Tournament to Benefit Local Charities

CAMDEN--Once again the Satellite Club of West Bay Rotary is hosting a cornhole tournament to benefit organizations addressing local food insecurity. The winning team gets to award the funds to one of the organizations addressing food insecurity, including Area Interfaith Outreach Food & Energy Assistance, Shields Mission Project, Good Shepherd Food Bank, Camden Area Christian Food Pantry, and Knox County Gleaners. There also will be cash prizes, a 50/50 raffle and door prizes at the event. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Flatbread.

This is the third cornhole tournament for the Satellite, and this year’s fall-inspired theme of “CorntoberFEST” reminds us that a time for harvest does not equate to plenty for all. There are still many people who lack sufficient, nutritious food.

The event takes place October 1 at American Flatbread on Route One in Rockport from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. It’s open to 30 teams playing on 15 cornhole sets and is produced in conjunction with State of Maine Director for the American Cornhole League Randy Baker, who has successfully led tournaments throughout the state. Practice time and then “Rounders” will be followed by a double-elimination format.

One or more teams of two players per team can register at: www.CorntoberFEST.com. The cost is $50 per team.
