College Completion Day" at UMA Rockland Nov 15th Urges Degree Completion

Thu, 10/25/2018 - 3:15pm

UMA Rockland will host a "College Completion Day" on Thursday, November 15 from 10am til 6pm for adults with some college but no degree who want to talk with professional academic advisors about how to create a path to degree completion.

Appointments will not be necessary on College Completion Day. All walk-ins are welcome.

UMA Rockland's staff, cross trained to efficiently help students navigate admissions, registration, financial aid, student accounts, academic advising and more will be available to guide potential students on a path to degree completion at the University of Maine at Augusta.

"We know that adult students have very little patience for being shuffled from office to office," said Director Deborah Meehan. "UMA Rockland is a one-stop shop with trained professionals who can guide adults on a path to success. We welcome all adults who want to explore what it will take to finish up a college degree."

Although Rockland staff are not always able to solve every issue, Meehan noted they do guide students to the appropriate offices, advocate for students' needs, and are successful at eliminating unnecessary barriers to enrollment.

"Adult students are vulnerable when returning to college. Most of those who previously left college did so because life events got in the way," said Meehan. "They can easily give up or turn away. We are here to help students succeed and help with challenges they face along the way to success."

The next semester at UMA Rockland starts January 22 so this is an ideal time to apply.  UMA Rockland may be contacted at 596-6906 or through its website at uma/edu/rockland.
