Celebrate the 4th with Music in Downtown Camden

Fri, 07/02/2021 - 8:15am

The Camden Rotary Club’s annual Music by the Sea celebration will bring two local bands to the Camden Library Amphitheatre on Sunday, July 4.

The Midcoast Brass Quintet will kick off the event from 3 to 4 p.m. with marches, jazz, and patriotic tunes.

The Right Track will bring high-energy rhythm and blues, funk, and soul to the celebration from 4:30  to 5:45 p.m.

The rain date for this event is Monday, July 5, on an altered schedule: Midcoast Brass Quintet from 3  to 4 p.m. and The Right Track from 6 to 7:15 p.m.

These performances follow a 25-year Camden Rotary Club tradition of marking Independence Day with free entertainment for locals and visitors alike. Donations from generous sponsors cover event costs and support the club’s annual grants to nonprofit organizations in Knox County and Lincolnville.

This year, the club presented grants to New Hope for Women, Coastal Opportunities, Cooking for Community’s Hunger and Economic Relief Project, St. George Community Development Corporation’s Community Cupboard, the Sundog Outdoor Expeditions Midcoast Outdoor Leadership Initiative, and Bay Chamber Music School.

Contributions to this year’s celebration will help fund next year’s round of grants. For more information about the club, visit https://www.camdenrotary.org.

Holiday festivities at the Amphitheatre will also include an hour-long concert by a pop ensemble from Maine’s 195th Army National Guard Band at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Audience members are invited to bring picnic blankets and beach chairs to the Amphitheatre. Refreshments will not be sold onsite but can be brought from home or purchased at local stores.
