The Camden Yacht Club invites the public to a series of free Wednesday evening seminars in July and August.

Four one-hour presentations will offer unique takes on boating in Penobscot Bay and beyond. Everyone is invited to attend these gatherings, which start at 7 p.m. and include plenty of time for questions and answers.

Here’s the line-up:

July 6: Penobscot Bay Pilots Association President David Gelinas – Piloting Big Ships on Penobscot Bay: How the pilots work and how recreational sailors can interact safely with them.

July 27: Photographer and Videographer Alison Langley –  Wind, Weather & Wood: See how an award-winning photographer captures Maine’s classic yacht regattas.

August 17: Schooner Olad Captain Aaron Lincoln, Emcee – Schooner Tall Tales: The audience will decide which of Lincoln’s fellow captains tells the best sea story.

August 31: Nigel Calder – Lessons from a Lifelong Sailor: Wisdom gained during years of cruising, including practical pointers and tales of adventure.

The lectures are free and open to the public. For more details about them, visit https://www.camdenyachtclub.org/sunset-seminars

The Yacht Club, located at 68 Bay View Street in Camden, hosts the non-profit Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program (CAYSP), which serves area youth regardless of their ability to pay. Donations for CAYSP scholarships will be gratefully accepted at the seminars or on the club’s website.
