Mon, 09/13/2021 - 8:15am

Camden Rotary Club’s annual cash Super Raffle concluded this month, awarding the top prize of $1,500 to a Camden resident, $1,000 to a visitor from Massachusetts, and $500 to an entrant from New Hampshire.

The raffle raised more than $16,000 to help finance grants for local nonprofit organizations in 2022.

“We are delighted to have sold nearly all of our raffle tickets, thanks to the generosity of community members and people who visited Camden this summer,” said Chip Holmes, chair of the club’s raffle committee. “We are especially grateful to French & Brawn Marketplace for allowing us to sell tickets in front of the store and to Camden National Bank for covering our printing costs. We’d also like to thank Camden Public Library for use of the Amphitheater and staff member Wyatt Porter for randomly drawing the winning tickets for us.”

Camden Rotary Club has served the community since 1925, raising funds to help local nonprofit organizations in Knox County and Lincolnville through an annual grants program. This year’s grant recipients included New Hope for Women, Coastal Opportunities, Cooking for Community’s Hunger and Economic Relief Project, St. George Community Development Corporation’s Community Cupboard, Sundog Outdoor Expeditions’ Midcoast Outdoor Leadership Initiative, and Bay Chamber Music School.

The club meets at First Congregational Church in Camden at noon on Tuesdays, with Zoom access available to those who wish it. All are welcome to attend. For online access, please write to Stephanie French at steph.griffinsg00@gmail.com
