BELFAST — What better way to spend a late summer day than amongst a deluge of dachshunds? For the many participants of this years 11th annual Wienerfest, which bills itself as a “celebration of dachshunds...and the people who love them,” the answer is simple: nothing.  

The event, which was held by Belfast’s Boathouse Sunday Sept. 7, has become increasingly popular in recent years, with an army of stubby-legged canines descending at the end of each summer with adoring owners in tow. While there was no shortage of people wandering the grounds with multiple smiling dachshunds by their side, it was just as common to see people with nary a pet in sight - instead drawn to the countless imaginative costumes and events.
