BELFAST — The frigid weather was no match for Belfast’s holiday spirit, which was out in full force for Saturday’s Holiday on the Harbor.

The event officially kicked off at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 10, with a performance of The Nutcracker at the Belfast Dance Studio.

Later in the morning spectators gathered near the water to await Santa’s arrival via Front Street Shipyard boat, after which he boarded a horse drawn carriage.

Waiving as the wagon made its journey down Front Street to the Belfast Boathouse, Santa seemed not to mind the cold.

Inside the boathouse were a myriad of activities for revelers to enjoy, including gingerbread house making, a reindeer ornament station, balloon animals, and photos with Santa.  There were also horse drawn wagon rides available for those wanting an up close look at Santa’s ride.

Holiday on the Harbor is sponsored by the Belfast Parks and Recreation Department, the Belfast Chamber of Commerce, and Cornerspring Montessori School.
