On Sunday, Feb. 17, more than 300 Mainers traveled to Washington to join a massive crowd of nearly 50,000 to urge President Obama to move forward on climate solutions. The Natural Resources Council of Maine and Sierra Club Maine chartered four buses, including one full of Maine college students, to the largest climate rally ever.

Featured speakers at the rally included National Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune, 350's Bill McKibben, and Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, among others.

After the rally, the crowd marched to the White House gate to protest the proposed Keystone XL and Northeast tar sands projects, and encourage the President to make serious climate action a top priority for his second term.

More pictures, posted by the participants, are available on the Facebook pages for NRDC and Sierra Club Maine. The rally can also be viewed online courtesy of the C-SPAN Video Library.
