BELFAST — Belfast’s eighth annual Street Party may have kicked off a day late due to weather concerns, but it certainly did not disappoint. The event is typically held on the first Monday of each August, though this year it was moved to Tuesday due to weather concerns.

Free to attend, the celebration operates from 5 to 10:30 pm every year, presenting food, festivities and music to locals and visitors alike.  Held between High Street and Church Street, stretching from Main Street through the American Legion Hall, the event offered something for everyone.

The section of the party held on Church Street is specifically designated for children’s entertainment, though bouncy houses were featured in both areas. The many child attendants had a wide range of options, including jousting, a climbing wall, face painting, and multiple bouncy structures to choose from.

Musical acts included returning DJ Erik Klausmeyer and Motor Booty Affair, both of which performed on the High Street stage in front of City Hall.

Also available to revelers in need of sustenance (or perhaps just something sweet), were dozens of local food vendors, offering everything from french fries to funnel cakes.

The event is hosted by Our Town Belfast, with the Unity Foundation as the event committee and music sponsor.

Despite being a day late, Belfast’s annual Street Party proved yet again to be a resounding success.
