    ROCKLAND - Edward J. Mazurek, 78, affectionately known as "Coach Maz", died peacefully October 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

    Born on December 21, 1938 in Stamford, Conn., Ed attended Stamford Public Schools, graduating in 1956. He received a four-year football scholarship to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating in 1960 and returned to school and received his master's degree in education from Fairfield University in 1968.

    Mary worked at Port Clyde Canning, the Tradewinds, Wayfarer and Hannaford, before retiring.

The many songs he wrote were those he had still lived to sing about with heart and soul as his backdrop.

With curt direction and ample wit she grew gardens round her 19th century house and filled them with stopping places for birds among the flowers.

    BELFAST — Robert R. Young, 82, passed away October 1, 2017 at his home in Belfast. He was born in Belfast, Maine, on April 11, 1935, the son of Frederick and Belle Young. He grew up working with his dad on the water, clamming, then lobster fishing, which eventually led to the family business known as Young's Lobster Pound. He met the love of his life in high school, Claire Young, they were married for almost 62 years. They raised a family of three, a son, Robert F.

    APPLETON— James H. Denman Jr. of Appleton, died on September 22, 2017 after a long illness.

    James enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1954, serving four years in Oahu Hawaii and was honorably discharged in 1958. James then attended The University of Hartford, received the High Regents Honor Award and received a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1962.

    James loved the outdoors, and spent a lot of time fishing and hunting with his Yorkie, Mutley.

After training as an electrician, he trained as a navigator and served with a C-130 refueler squadron in Okinawa and the United States.

    Chappy was a well known resident of Waldoboro, spending a lot of his years gossiping with the guys, and aggravating the waitresses at Moody's Diner. Chappy served in the Korean War while in the Air Force.
