    BELFAST — Lenore Ottenbreit, "Lee" as she was known to all, was married to Joe for 61 years, and he was the love of her life. She was born in New York City but moved with her family in 1950 to Fair Lawn, N.J. for a life in the new suburbs. Lee immersed herself in community and civic affairs. She was an active member of the Girl Scouts starting at age 9 and was awarded the "Thanks" badge from the Lenni-Lenape Council.

    CAMDEN — Harold "Tete De" Clark Clossey Jr., 72, passed away Oct. 10, 2012, at Pen Bay Medical Center. Born in Newport, N.H. April 18, 1940, he was the son of Harold C. and Lorena (Goodeill) and grew up in Eastport.

    As a young person, Harold developed a love of the ocean and enjoyed navigating the waters of Passamaquoddy Bay in rowboats and dories, fishing from hand lines catching cod, pollock and haddock. He was a 1960 graduate of Shead Memorial High School in Eastport.

    Following high school, Shirley married her soul mate, Maynard L. Knight Sept/ 8, 1946. Together they made their home in Camden their entire married life.

    Born in Wilmington, Mass., Oct. 24, 1925, she was one of five children of Ernest and Lily Hamiltron Barron.

    She graduated from Winchester High School in Massachusetts; and for most of her career, was a secretary at Weston High School in Weston, Mass.

    She married Kenneth A. MacRae in Somerville, Mass. He passed away in 1989.

    Mike grew up on a dairy farm in Stacyville and worked alongside his father, his Uncle Gerald Merry and several cousins that were special to him. Mike graduated from Sherman High in 1966 and received an associate's degree in agriculture/dairy in 1968 from the University of Maine, Orono.

    WINTERPORT — Raymond E. Hills Sr., 96 of Winterport, passed away Sept. 28, 2012, in Bangor. He was born in Belfast Oct. 22, 1915, son of Herbert and Mildred (Lamson) Hills. Raymond graduated in 1933 from Crosby High School, where he was active in sports and excelled in history classes. Summers after graduating, he went to work with the Civilian Conservation Corps training program, which helped to employ young adults to assist towns with various projects.

    Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, July 10, 1921, he was the son of Mike and Mary Duchak. He was educated in Regina schools and from an early age, played hockey and lacrosse.

    He later attended Martin School of Art in London, England, and Warrington School of Art in Manchester, England.

    ROCKLAND — In the midst of a whirling hubbub, Karl Carlson was passed over to harps and angels by his hovering flock of children, 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren Sept. 25, 2012, at the Knox Center for Long Term Care.

    He stepped into the world May 12, 1932, the son of Millard and Leola Carlson.

    In 1951, Karl graduated from Bemus Point High School in Bemus Point, N.Y., where he excelled in all sports — football being his favorite.

Born in Rockport April 26, 1922, he was the son of Frank Delano and Emma (Kent) Hawes and attended schools there. From 1942 to 1945, Freeman proudly served in the 1st Army 3rd Armored 486th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion as an anti-aircraft artillery gun crewman in the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign.

    ROCKLAND — Ruth H. Spear, 91, died at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, following an extended illness.

    Born Dec. 12, 1920, in Somerville, Mass., she was the daughter of Samuel and Hattie Carnes Wadsworth. As a young girl, Ruth lived in Vinalhaven, Thomaston and Cushing. She eventually moved to Rockland, where she attended local schools.

    In 1932 Ruth married Edson N. Spear. Mr. Spear passed away in 1981.
