    CAMDEN — Clifton Henry Richards, 96, of Camden, died Dec. 10, 2012, at the Maine VA Medical Center at Togus. One of 11 children, Cliff was the son of Burnside and Hattie Richards, and was a descendant of James Richards, one of the original settlers of the Rockport-Camden area. He was selected to participate in the Civil Conservation Corps and worked on projects in the Camden Hills State Park and in Rockwood and the Moosehead Lake region of the state.

    UNION – Wilson A. 'Bill' Fish, 73, died unexpectedly Dec. 12, 2012, while returning with his wife from a visit with friends in Friendship.

    Born in Dexter Oct. 21, 1939, he was the son of Robert and Delilah Engstrom Fish. He was educated in Dexter schools.

    He married Shelia Parreault Gibbs in Union Dec. 31, 1998. The couple have since resided in Union.

He was a graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy and the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a degree in architecture.

    CUSHING — Philip E. Spaulding, 84, passed away peacefully Dec. 13, 2012, at Windward Gardens in Camden, following an extended illness.

    Born in Thomaston Feb. 7, 1928, he was the son of Robert G. and Arlene Smith Spaulding. At age 6 he moved to Stonington, where he attended school until the age of 13. His family moved back to Thomaston, where he graduated from Thomaston High School, class of 1946.

    OWLS HEAD — Evelyn B. Eilers, 92, died at her home Dec. 11, 2012, from complications of a stroke she suffered in May.

    Born in Lincolnville Dec. 30, 1919, she was the daughter of Merrill P. and Louise M. Pendleton Brown. She was a 1937 graduate of Camden High School, and in 1940, graduated from Gorham Normal School. She later earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Hampshire and a Masters in Education from Tufts University.

    CAMDEN — David Hugh Montgomery passed away Dec. 8, 2012, at Quarry Hill in Camden. He was born June 17, 1928, and was the son of J. Hugh Montgomery and Helen Greene Montgomery. David was educated in the Camden school system. He graduated from Exeter Academy in 1946 and from Harvard University in 1950, where he was in the Navy ROTC program. David completed graduate school at Stanford University Business School, graduating in 1952.

    Born in Rockland April 11, 1933, he was one of eight children of Hoyt G. and Dorothy Blake Emery. He was educated in Rockland schools.

    On Aug. 22, 1953, he married Margaret H. Perry in Rockland. The couple have made their home in Rockland since that time.

    On September 6, 1941, she married Arthur W. St. Peter in Skowhegan where they resided all their married life.

    While raising her own family she worked at the Skowhegan woolen mills.

    Before becoming disabled, Gary worked on several local fishing boats as well as owning his own auto body repair shop.

    He loved building and racing cars, as well as fishing and camping trips with his family.

    ROCKLAND — Freda Thompson Vose, 83, died after a long illness Nov. 19, 2012.

    Born in Portland Jan. 5, 1929, she was the daughter of John and Gertrude Chambers Thompson.

    She married Clayton L. Vose and together raised their family here.

    For many years Mrs. Vose ran a ceramics shop out of her home on Broadway. She held many classes there and fired the pieces herself.

    Born in Portsmouth, N.H., May 5, 1964, he was the son of Terrance C. and Roberta A. Sibley Edgecomb. Brian grew up in Greenfield, Mass., where he attended local schools and Greenfield High School.

    He later enlisted in the United States Army, serving more than 10 years.

She grew up on her family's farm in Liberty, walking to the one-room school down the road, and later graduating from Walker High School, which meant she had to board with a family during the school week.

    FRIENDSHIP —Kent Bradley Winchenbach Sr. unexpectedly passed away Oct.. 22, 2012.

    Kent was born in Rockland Feb. 7, 1956.

    Over the years he worked at Jameson Plumbing & Heating, National Seafood Products, Stoney Apartments and spent the last 22 years at Bath Iron Works until he retired in 2008. He also spent four years in the U.S. Navy, an accomplishment he was very proud of.

    Born in Rockland June 11, 1933, he was the son of Frank and Alfreda Scuito Gustin. Educated in Rockland schools, he was a 1951 graduate of Rockland High School.

    Shortly after graduating, John enlisted in the military and served one tour of duty in Korea and two in Vietnam. He retired in July 1972 after 20 years of service with the U.S. Coast Guard.

    Bertha Drinkwater Hopper

    CAMDEN — Bertha Drinkwater Hopper, 98, died Nov. 5, 2012, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. Born in Searsmont Jan. 22, 1914, she was the daughter of Clinton and Alice (Mahoney) Butler and married Robie Drinkwater. In 1934, Bertha and Robie moved to Camden. She was employed for many years as a supervisor in the burling room at the Seabright Woolen Mill. Later, she worked at Tibbetts Industries for a number of years, retiring when she was in her 70s. Mr. Drinkwater died Oct. 9, 1983.

Born in South Hope Nov. 23, 1921, she was the daughter of Woodbury W. and Annie (Harris) Lermond, and was a 1939 graduate of Union High School. On Nov. 29, 1939, she married Robert Frank Crabtree in Rockport. Agnes and Bob lived in Camden until 1975, lived in South Hope for 15 years, and moved back to Camden in 1990.

She was a 1933 graduate of Bangor High School and in 1937, graduated from Mount Holyoke College. She also held graduate degrees from both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C., and the University of Maine at Orono.

    CAMDEN — Bertha Pearse Dickey, 88, died Nov. 4, 2012, at Glen Ridge Nursing Home in Augusta. Born in Hope Jan. 17, 1924, she was the oldest child of Aubrey and Cora (Dennison) Pearse. On Sept. 17, 1941, she married Norman C. Dickey of Lincolnville.  They made their home in Hope then moved to Camden in 1950. 

    Mrs. Dickey was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rockland branch.
