Women Painting Women at Belfast Free Library

Thu, 03/08/2018 - 4:30pm

In celebration of Women’s History Month in March, the Kramer Gallery of the Belfast Free Library is hosting “Women Painting Women,” a group show by The Women Artists of Midcoast Maine. The Kramer Gallery is on the ground floor of the Belfast Free Library, 106 High Street.

The Women Artists of Midcoast Maine came together two years ago to promote, support and celebrate each others’ art. The eight artists in this exhibit come from varied backgrounds, but all now devote significant time to painting. As a group they have had a number of exhibits in the past year, from Bangor to Damariscotta, and have more planned for 2018.

The Woman Artists of Midcoast Maine include Leecia Price, Debbie Mitchell, Deb Jellison, Summer Hart, Joanne Houlson, Suzanne Roberts,  Betty Schopmeyer, and Kay Carter.

They said, in a news release of this exhibit: "Women Painting Women" developed as a natural outgrowth of our desire to support women artists everywhere. We value women's roles, past and present, and celebrate the women in our lives and in society. We have distinct styles and subjects, and we all love color!”
