ROCKPORT — Kerry Lavigne, M.D. F.A.A.D, has announced the opening of her new dermatology practice, Camden Dermatology and Mohs Surgery, on March 5 at 195 Union Street in Rockport.

Most recently on staff at Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital, Lavigne is a board-certified dermatologist with advanced fellowship training specializing in skin cancer, Mohs micrographic surgery, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Lavigne is the only Mohs surgeon in the region outside Portland and Bangor.

Dr. Lavigne provides dermatological care for all age groups, from infants to geriatric patients. As a board-certified dermatologist, she attends to the full spectrum of skin, hair and nail concerns, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis, as well as a tailored selection of cosmetic services.

She cites the lack of certified dermatologists in the Midcoast as one of the reasons she felt compelled to open her own practice.

“I’ve treated patients from as far south as Portland and north to Bar Harbor for all kinds of dermatology services, including management of skin cancer and reconstructive surgery,” said Lavigne. “The population here is varied, from young families to retirees, with differing needs. My goal is to establish a dermatology practice that tailors the very best treatment for each person.”

Prior to coming to the Midcoast, Lavigne practiced for two years with Dermatology Associates in Portland and Biddeford.

She received her medical degree from University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and completed both an internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Penn., where she also served as co-chief resident. She completed her fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery/Procedural Dermatology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

Lavigne is board certified in dermatology and a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology. She’s a member of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology as well as the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Maine Dermatologic Society, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

Dr. Lavigne lives in Camden with her husband, Rick, and their two sons, and is pleased to call the Midcoast home.

“Having moved 25 times in my life, opening Camden Dermatology and Mohs Surgery is the culmination of everything my husband (a native Mainer) and I have wanted—to find permanence in a wonderful place to raise a family, and to grow a business that serves our community.”

Camden Dermatology and Mohs Surgery will be open five days a week beginning March 5. For more information, call Camden Dermatology & Mohs Surgery at 207-706-5030.
