A Wiscasset woman was one of the three people hurt in a three-car accident on Route 1 in Edgecomb on Oct. 25, authorities said.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Major Ken Mason on Oct. 27 named the people involved in Saturday’s accident near Pioneer Motel, involving three northbound cars.

One of the drivers, Katrina Temple, 22, of Wiscasset had begun a right-side pass of a car Kristine Brown, 36, of Bath was driving, Mason states in an email to the Wiscasset Newspaper.

Brown was slowing to turn left into the motel lot when Temple began the pass, according to the email.

Lucy Lincoln, 65, of Willimantic, Connecticut, was driving northbound behind them and didn’t notice the slowdown by Brown or the pass Temple was making, the email continues. The car Lincoln was driving hit both cars from behind, the email states.

Lincoln, Temple and one of Temple’s passengers, Shari Owen, 48, had minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals. The email does not list Owen’s town of residence.

“The contributing factor to this accident was determined to be that Lincoln was following too closely,” Mason writes.

The accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday and slowed Route 1 traffic for about 45 minutes. The sheriff’s department, Edgecomb and Wiscasset fire departments, Wiscasset Ambulance Service and Central Lincoln County Ambulance responded to the scene.
