Winwood ‘Sonny’ Allie Lewis, obituary

BELFAST — Winwood "Sonny" Allie Lewis, 69, passed away on Thursday, July 6,  in Belfast. Sonny was born November 7, 1947 in Belfast to the late Winwood and Goldie (Curtis) Lewis of Belfast.

He attended the local schools and joined the Army. He was a Vietnam veteran and, after leaving the Army, he worked for Truitt Brothers and then for many years he drove truck for Maplewood and Penobscot Poultry. When those businesses closed, he continued to drive truck for many years. His last place of employment was McCrum Frozen Foods as a cooker. 

Sonny loved his family and was a hard worker. He enjoyed Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and a cold beer. 

Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sandra Lewis; his daughter and two sons: Kimberly Lewis, Chris Lewis and his wife, Amy, and David Lewis and his wife, Kristi, all of Swanville; a granddaughter Nicole (Lewis) Cushman and great-granddaughter Zaylie Cushman; a sister Linda L. Harriman and her husband, Wayne, of St. John, Washington; a brother Timothy Lewis of Woodstock, Virginia; and his nieces, nephews and cousins.

Per his wishes, he would like his family and friends to celebrate his life in their own way in lieu of a funeral service.
