ROCKPORT — Willis Albert “Bill” Monroe, 79, died peacefully Aug. 10, 2015, at the Sussman House in Rockport. Born in Camden on Nov. 18, 1935, he was the son of Bill and Phyllis Monroe.

He was a graduate of Camden High School and attended the University of Maine in Orono, until enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Returning home after his service, Bill became dockmaster at Wayfayer Marine until retiring and moving with his daughter to their summer home in Blue Hill.

Bill loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and growing fruits, herbs and vegetables.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Mimi Monroe Hussey of Rockport; his son, Bill Jr. of Mechanic Falls; 10 grandchildren; as well as his late wife's children, whom he raised, Nancy Eisler of Connecticut, Jerry Bacon of Falmouth and Steve Bacon of Owls Head.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Camden. The Rev. John Rafter will officiate.
