THOMASTON — William D. “Billy” Archer, 51, died unexpectedly Jan. 21, 2015, at his home.

Born in Rockland on Nov. 13, 1963, he was the son of Edward C. and Margaret Heino Archer. Beginning school in Rockland, he later moved with his family to Warren and Thomaston.

For most of his career he enjoyed turning wrenches as an auto mechanic. In earlier years he worked at Fisher Engineering in Rockland.

He was proud to earn his GED from Georges Valley High School in Thomaston.

Billy loved being outdoors fishing and hunting. He looked forward every year to ice fishing and was preparing his gear for this season. Billy loved his miniature doberman, Rascal. He enjoyed a longtime friendship with Bruce Meklin and often enjoyed the camaraderie of the entire Meklin crew.

Billy is remembered by his family as a friend who would help anyone with anything.

Predeceased by his father in 2003; his uncle, George Heino Sr.; and his cousin, George Heino Jr.; Billy is survived by his mother of Cushing; his companion, Michelle “Shelly” Ellis of Thomaston and her daughter, Ashley, who called him “Billy Dad”; his sister, Rhonda Smith and her husband, Michael, of Cushing; his brother, Edward S. “Eddie” Archer and his wife, Heidi, of Cushing; his cousin, Paul Heino of Thomaston; two nieces, April Benedix and her husband, Kaden, of Thomaston, and Rose Smith and Jake of Cushing; as well as one great-niece, Michaela “KK” Smith.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Thursday, Jan. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. Interment will be in the spring.
