SOUTH THOMASTON – The public is invited to spend Sunday afternoon, August 13, enjoying midcoast Maine's premier plein air art auction. The Kelpie Gallery of South Thomaston's fourth annual “Wet Paint on the Weskeag” will feature the freshly painted art of 36 artists created en plein air along the Wesaweskeag and St. George Rivers.

At 4 p.m., drinks and delectables from Cellardoor Winery, Rock Harbor Brewery, and Green Bean Catering will be enjoyed to the musical entertainment of bluegrass band, “Miners Creek.” Guests can meet the artists and get an up close view of their freshly painted works. At 5:00 p.m. sharp, the animated and entertaining live auction will begin with dueling auctioneers, Bruce Gamage and Kaja Veilleux.

Tickets for this not-to-be missed event to celebrate the beauty of the Wesaweskeag and Georges River region are on sale now at GeorgesRiver.org or by calling (207) 594-5166. Advance tickets are $40 and tickets will be for sale at the door for $45. Proceeds from the sale of “wet” art will be split between Georges River Land Trust and the artists, supporting both the artist and the Land Trust which works to conserve the artists' muse.

The event hosts, The Kelpie Gallery, Lewis Conservation Services, and Georges River Land Trust are grateful for the generous support of the lead sponsors Bangor Savings Bank and On the Water Real Estate.

The Georges River Land Trust has conserved 3,500 acres of natural habitats and working lands in Knox and Waldo Counties and receives 90% of its support through individual donations. For more information about programs, trails, events, and membership visit GeorgesRiver.org or call (207) 594-5166.
